Dr. Thomas Cheatle

Dr. Cheatle brings more than 35 years of experience in emergency medicine and clinical leadership. A Nebraska native, he began his medical career in 1988, serving in the United States Air Force, where he completed medical school in Virginia and went on to complete his residency through the Air Force at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Following his service, Dr. Cheatle continued practicing emergency medicine, establishing a strong reputation for advancing patient care and expanding emergency services in the Omaha area. He played a pivotal role in the development of Bellevue Medical Center, including the successful launch of its Emergency Department when the hospital first opened in 2010.

Today, Dr. Cheatle serves as Assistant Medical Director at Cityscape Healthcare, where he applies his deep clinical experience to medical oversight, quality care delivery, and patient-centered outcomes. He also serves as a Medical Director at OrthoNebraska and continues to support patients through his work with Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

Dr. Steven Shannon

Dr. Steven Shannon is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in orthopedic trauma, currently practicing in Lincoln, NE. He completed his medical degree at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine in 2013 and an orthopedic trauma fellowship at the University of Maryland. His residency was in orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science. Dr. Shannon has worked as an orthopedic trauma surgeon at caring for Lincoln and the surrounding communities since 2019. He has extensive experience with traumatic injuries to the hip, femur, pelvis, total joint replacement, and joint preservation surgery. He has published several papers in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and has contributed to clinical trials on various aspects of orthopedic trauma care. His work has earned him several honors, including awards for best papers and resident performance.

Dr. Michael Romano

Dr. Michael Romano brings a remarkable career spanning nearly four decades in medicine, leadership, and patient-centered care. A graduate of Creighton University School of Medicine, he completed his residency at Creighton University Affiliated Hospital before beginning what would become a lifelong commitment to improving patient outcomes through both clinical excellence and healthcare innovation.

For the majority of his career, Dr. Romano practiced full-time Family Medicine, including obstetrics, before expanding his focus to population health and healthcare administration. His passion for system-wide improvement led him to earn a Master’s in Healthcare Administration, which opened the door to numerous physician executive roles. His leadership experience includes serving as Medical Director for Midlands Choice PPO, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Jennie Edmundson Hospital, and Medical Director of VNA Hospice.

Following the sale of his private practice, Dr. Romano transitioned into hospital leadership, where he helped launch an Advanced Wound Clinic and began focusing more deeply on wound care. Since 2010, he has worked in advanced wound care settings, providing both hands-on patient treatment and clinical oversight. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Officer for Nebraska Health Network, an Accountable Care Organization dedicated to improving care coordination and quality outcomes across the region.
